I put these black sunglasses on and immediately checked whether there was a fighter jet behind me.
There was not. There was a laundry basket and one sock with troubling independence. Still, the sunglasses did their job. They made me feel less like a person running errands and more like someone walking away from an explosion I did not authorize.
The problem isn’t that these sunglasses are dramatic. It’s that my life is not dramatic enough to support them.
They fit well, look sharp, and somehow make a regular trip to the grocery store feel like a deleted scene from Mission: Impossible. I caught my reflection in a store window and gave myself a small nod. Unnecessary. Unrequested. Fully committed.
